Jason Collett - Rat A Tat Tat

Jason Collett

Rat A Tat Tat

Rat A Tat Tat was recorded in the summer and fall of 2009, largely on the east side of Toronto at Ill Eagle, Carlin Nicholson and Mike O’Brien of Zeus’ studio.

Zeus, Collett’s long time backing band contributed throughout both releases along with a bevy of guests. Rat a Tat Tat is Jason Collett at his most playful, robust and revelatory.

A true marvel.

Pavement - Quarantine the Past - Greatest Hits

Pavement

Quarantine the Past - Greatest Hits

New collection from the Indie Rock legends, which spans the entirety of Pavement’s career from 1989 to 1999.

The compilation takes the listener on a trip, from the scratchy and mysterious sounds of their early vinyl-only releases up to the rich, multilayered warmth of their final recordings.

Although it does not include any unreleased material, it definitely digs deeper than the hits.

Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me

Joanna Newsom

Have One On Me

2010 three CD / LP release from the acclaimed singer/songwriter, the long-awaited follow-up to her album The Y’s.

Featuring Ryan Francesconi and Neal Morgan from Joanna’s Ys Street Band, Have One On Me is an extravagantly packaged collection of fantastic new Joanna Newsom songs: her most colorful record to date.

Joanna’s music has more of an affinity with the Folk revival of the ‘60s, or the Bluegrass movement at present, than with most contemporary Folk (or Anti-Folk) scenes.

Affinities aside, her style could hardly be called Bluegrass; nor does it evoke the pastoral tonalities of ‘60s Folk: she sings about whalebones, sleep, grammar, mollusks, accumulation, automobiles, owls, burning boats, string collections, milk, teeth, bridges, balloons, cake, colors, and kin, all in an otherworldly, ragged-sweet voice that defies convention.

Shout Out Louds - Work

Shout Out Louds

Work

The third full-length album from Sweden’s Shout Out Louds.

Produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins), Work strips away all of the bells and whistles of previous efforts to showcase the band doing what they do best, writing and playing Pop music that is nostalgic and angst-ridden, but ultimately life-affirming.

Beach House - Teen Dream

Beach House

Teen Dream

Recorded in upstate New York, in a converted church called Dreamland with producer/engineer Chris Coady (who has worked with TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead, and a bunch of others) Teen Dream is the third album from the Baltimore-based duo Beach House, and their Sub Pop debut.

The new album gives voice to a full universe of unbridled imagination, and the manifestation of Teen Dream has been a welcomed and all-consuming obsession for Beach House the past 9-12 months.

The CD is packaged with a companion DVD featuring a video for each song on the album, each by a different director.
