To mark the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album, the legendary alternative rock band Placebo is releasing “Placebo RE: CREATED,” a powerful reissue of the album that first introduced them to the world in 1996.

Originally released at the height of the Britpop era, Placebo stood in stark contrast to the prevailing cultural mood. While much of British guitar music at the time drew on youthful nostalgia and national identity, Placebo’s debut offered something far more provocative and confrontational. The songs addressed sexuality, androgyny, addiction, and alienation with a honesty rarely heard in mainstream rock of the time, establishing the band as one of the most distinctive voices of their generation.

Thirty years later, the band returns to this groundbreaking album with a fresh perspective on “Placebo RE:CREATED.” The new record features reworked and enriched versions of all ten tracks from the original album, as well as two bonus tracks from the original release, capturing how these songs have evolved over the decades while preserving the raw spirit that defined them. The tracks include the seminal singles “Nancy Boy” and “36 Degrees,” songs that helped establish Placebo’s reputation for fearless lyrics and a genre-spanning sound. These new recordings amplify the urgency and attitude that made the originals resonate so powerfully, while also reflecting the band’s evolution and experiences in the years since their debut.
