Kim Simmonds - Out Of The Blue - CD
Savoy Brown founder and blues rock legend, Kim Simmonds, is known for his fiery and heavy blues rock guitar playing and singing. His career started in London, England in 1966 and he eventually moved operations to the USA in 1980. Simmonds still tours extensively with Savoy Brown and his albums still consistently appear on the Billboard Blues Charts.
Simmonds also has a solo recording career, showing off his lighter side with acoustic guitar playing, singing and song writing. "Out Of The Blue" is one of a series of five albums he has done in this vein.
This particular 2008 studio session recording shows off Simmonds' acoustic blues approach in both a stripped down guitar / vocal setting and also playing with an acoustic band combo. The eleven tracks cover plenty of musical territory. All are self-composed with an intimacy that only acoustic music can capture.
A variety of guitar sounds and approaches make this an enjoyable musical treat and the cover, painted by Simmonds, adds another special touch. "Out Of The Blue" was recorded in Simmonds' own White Cottage Studios and each song reflects a truly personal side of this great international artist.
