Alien Metal is the logical conclusion of the King Gizzard synth-based album. This was a journey embarked on with The Silver Cord, which eventually spiraled down into a years-long development of modular synth processes, both on and off stage. Finally, after scrapping dozens of hours of material, the process clicked while jamming late one night in the studio, and satisfactory music began to flow in real time. With one tempo and key throughout, some natural points were found to split it into individual tracks, and then only a little further editing and production were required to make it ready.

The result is a dark, dense, and pulsating circuit of sound, that also transitions seamlessly and loops back upon itself. Alien Metal is one of King Gizzard’s most credible ‘genre excursions,’ that most comfortably fits in with the established conventions of EDM and its various subgenres; while maintaining a few signature Gizzard touches such as the lyrics and vocal performances.
