Ray Charles' landmark "Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music" albums expanded country music from a niche-genre to a mainstream phenomenon. 1966's "Crying Time" and 1965's "Country And Western Meets Rhythm And Blues" are companion pieces that more overtly blend country - the genre he transformed - and soul - the genre he invented.

Their hits, "Let's Go Get Stoned", "Crying Time", and "Together Again", are just an indication of the variety (and quality) throughout these two outstanding examples of Ray's all-encompassing genius.
